Experience

Mirja is experienced in managing large-scale evaluation and impact assessment projects for public sector clients in the areas of migration and home affairs, border management, justice and security, health, education, research and innovation and financial services, involving multiple partner organisations and also including networks of researchers covering all 28 EU Member States.

Mirja has successfully led on a number of high-profile pan-European evaluation and impact assessment studies for the European Commission and other European institutions (DG Migration and Home Affairs, DG Justice and Consumers, DG MARKT, DG Connect, DG Research, EIGE, the European Parliament etc.). Topic areas range from (irregular) migration and return policies, border management and protection against organised crime, to access to justice in cases of legal difficulties across all European Member States, equality and anti-discrimination policies etc.

Migration and home affairs

  • A Study on the smuggling of migrants: characteristics, responses and cooperation with third countries, for the European Commission’s Directorate-General Migration and Home Affairs (2015);
